사전이용에 대해

Each dictionary starts with section 10 (General concepts), whose paragraphs are numbered starting from 101. That is, sections are identified by two-digit codes and paragraphs within them are identified by adding a third digit. There are normally between 5 and 9 paragraphs per section. In the Wiki platform, each section is an Internet page.

Each paragraph describes a demographic concept using other related terms. Terms presented in bold face constitute the key terminology presented by the Dictionary and are denoted by TextTerm in the wiki version. A TextTerm is uniquely identified by its footnote number. Therefore, the location of a TextTerm can be established by knowing its paragraph number and footnote number as, for instance, 101-1, which is the location code for the term demography. These numerical codes facilitate the linking of terms in different languages. Sometimes an actual footnote is used to provide comments on the use of a particular term. For more information on how the coding scheme of the Dictionaries works, please refer to the original preface to each edition.

When a section is displayed (an Internet page with a number on top), navigation bars display links to the chapters and sections of the Dictionary. The links are presented in terms of titles for the chapters and two-digit codes for the sections. Sections sharing the same first digit belong to the same chapter. The second edition of the Dictionary has nine chapters.

Above and below the navigation bars presenting links to chapters and sections, additional navigation bars present links to the different language modules. Note that, when available, there are different links to the first and second editions in a given language.

To access the translation of a TextTerm, click on the term desired in order to display a page having only the paragraph in which it appears. Just above the paragraph, a box labelled “Translation” appears. Click on the “show” button on that box. A table with the TextTerms contained in the paragraph displayed in all the languages appears. By clicking on the name of the language to which the translation is sought, the paragraph is displayed in that language.

단어의 발음을 듣기 위해서는

Just below each paragraph, a box with links to audio files containing the right pronunciation of each term is displayed. Clicking on those links accesses the audio files. Note, however, that preparation of the audio files is in progress and links in red indicate that the audio file is not yet available.

To access a numbered paragraph, for instance, paragraph 632 in the Arabic second edition (ar-ii), the URL can be typed in directly by noting that the number of the section (page) where the paragraph is located is 63 (that is, the first two digits of the paragraph number). Therefore the wiki address is: http://ar-ii.demopaedia.org/wiki/63

첫번째 에디션
